Mighty Machines
I have relied on this show countless times to occupy my children while I tend to things like dinner or cleaning. Its production values are not fantastic, but kids love this show. Mighty Machines, produced in Canada, features footage of real machines working, with each machine “talking” about the tasks it performs in language kids can understand. Machines are a mix of both sexes. While adults may find the accents used by the voice actors to be a little over-the-top, they are quite entertaining to children. Subjects covered by the series include mining, farming, waste collection and disposal, public transit, construction machines, and fire trucks and other rescue vehicles.
Good for ages 4 and up. Airs on TVO in Canada and is widely available on DVD.

my son has a collection of DVDs similar to this — one about big rigs, one about big machines, etc. He LOVES them, and they simply show people at work (women included).
They are definitely favourites in our house too.
