A tale of a boy with a vivid imagination, The Salamander Room by Anne Mazer tells the story of a boy who brings home a salamander and dreams of transforming his room into a suitable environment for his new friend. The protagonist is very thoughtful and caring, and an excellent role model for boys.

This gentle story ends with the boy and the salamander going to sleep, the latter in a comfy bed made by the boy. Because it ends on a quiet note, it makes a nice bedtime story. Good for ages 3-5.
