This is the first title in a series by Mélanie Watt about a male squirrel who is afraid to leave his tree and goes overboard with precautions whenever he does venture out. The books in this series are clever and funny. They offer a good counterbalance to the tough and brave male characters boys often see. Through the adventures of Scaredy Squirrel, kids learn that being scared is okay, they can overcome their fears, and the thing they were scared of might not be so scary after all.
