My Many Colored Days
This Dr. Seuss book is a bit of a departure from his usual fare (also excellent). For various reasons, emotional expression can be especially difficult for boys. This book demonstrates that people have a range of emotions from “happy pink” to “mad and loud” black. It gives children a way to express their emotions by relating them to colours, while reassuring them that it is okay to be sad or angry because they will go back to being themselves again in due time. Good for toddlers to kindergarten or even beyond.
