National Geographic Kids’ Almanac
The National Geographic Kids’ Almanac is a great resource for boys and girls.
It covers a wide range of subjects pertaining to nature, the environment, culture, and history. The Canadian edition has a lengthy section on the country’s government, constitution, political parties, and geography.
One of the biggest sections in the book is “Amazing Animals,” which talks about pets, insects, big cats, sea creatures, dinosaurs, and animals in peril. A section on Going Green covers subjects like green technologies, pollution, and global warming.
Like all National Geographic products, it has excellent photography and maps. The book is colourful and easy-to-navigate. Its detailed table of contents and index also teach kids how to look up information in a reference book. Highly recommended.
