The author of the Stella series, Marie-Louise Gay (mentioned in my Picture Books section), has collaborated with her husband David Homel on this selection of short tales about the parents of two boys who like to take their children “off the beaten path” when on vacation. The stories are funny, inventive and include a positive portrayal of a father. The sequel, On the Road Again, sees the family travelling to France and is equally entertaining. Read aloud to kids aged 7-8, but older kids can read this by themselves.
